چکیده

Mitophagy is one of the selective autophagy pathways that catabolizes dysfunctional or superfluous mitochondria. Under mitophagy-inducing conditions, mitochondria are labeled with specific molecular landmarks recruit machinery to surface mitochondria, enclosed into autophagosomes, and delivered lysosomes (vacuoles in yeast) for degradation. As damaged major sources reactive oxygen species, mitophagy critical mitochondrial quality control cellular health. Moreover, appropriate quantity via vital energy supply-demand balance cells whole organisms, cell differentiation, developmental programs. Thus, it seems conceivable defects could elicit pleiotropic pathologies such as excess inflammation, tissue injury, neurodegeneration, aging. In this review, we will focus on basis physiological relevance mitophagy, potential a therapeutic target overcome disorders.

Cellular and molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial function

Mitochondria are membrane bound organelles present in almost all eukaryotic cells. Responsible for orchestrating cellular energy production, they are central to the maintenance of life and the gatekeepers of cell death. Thought to have originated from symbiotic ancestors, they carry a residual genome as mtDNA encoding 13 proteins essential for respiratory chain function. Mitochondria comprise a...

A Review of Mitochondrial Biogenesis and Cellular Response

Abstract Background and Objectives Mitochondrial biogenesis is a complex process involving the coordinated expression of mitochondrial and nuclear genes, the import of the products of the latter into the organelle and turnover of this process. Mitochondrial malfunction or defects in any of the many pathways involved in mitochondrial biogenesis can lead to degenerative diseases and possibly pla...

Mitochondrial and cellular mechanisms for managing lipid excess

Current scientific debates center on the impact of lipids and mitochondrial function on diverse aspects of human health, nutrition and disease, among them the association of lipotoxicity with the onset of insulin resistance in skeletal muscle, and with heart dysfunction in obesity and diabetes. Mitochondria play a fundamental role in aging and in prevalent acute or chronic diseases. Lipids are ...

Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms Involved in Neuroinflammation after Acute Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury

Introduction: Spinal cord injury (SCI) following traumatic events is associated with the limited therapeutic options and sever complications, which can be partly due to inflammatory response. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of inflammation in spinal cord injury. The findings showed that the pathological conditions of nervous system lead to activation of microglia, astrocyte, neut...
